Excellent Mid-century Modern Sputnik style weather station made In West Germany in the late 1950's. This stylish scientific instrument contains a thermometer, hygrometer and barometer inside a clear plexiglass globe with beaded brass spikes resembling a Sputnik satellite. It stands on a removable brass base on which it rotates freely. The underside of the base has a wall mount for hanging onto a wall if desired. This weather station stands 8" tall by 5" in diameter, and weighs just over 1 lb. The barometer band is marked "Made in Western Germany", and the bottom of the brass base is marked "B.G.M. 1765968". A fascinating instrument for your home, office or Mid-century Modern collection
